Welcome. My mission is to create a small, community supported clinic to help patients return to health and well being. I have created Keweenaw Family Medicine as a DPC (direct primary care) practice to help patients have access to quality healthcare by restoring the basic doctor/patient relationship.

This is not my first practice. As a lot of you remember, I did own and operate my own clinic from 2008 to 2016. It was a great experience, but the constant insurance denials and billing hassles made it hard to continue. I closed my practice and joined the local hospital. I didn’t have to deal with billing but the paperwork demands and constant insurance company interference only worsened along with the pressure to see more and more patients.

I came upon the DPC model and knew that I wanted to return to the reason I became a doctor. I want to help people return to health without all of the hassles, paperwork, and constant third party interference. I want to be able to give you the time and information you need to help heal or stay healthy.

As a board certified family practice physician, I have almost 20 years of clinical experience treating patients from birth to 100+ years of age.  In addition, I am also passionate about functional medicine, treating the root cause of illness, not just symptom management. I completed my advanced practitioner training through the Institute of Functional Medicine and have been an IFM-Certified Practitioner (IFM-CP) since 2015.

In addition to my medical practice, I also have a love of yoga. I have practiced and studied in the Kundalini yoga tradition for many years and am currently a 500-hr certified yoga teacher. I can also bring this training into your healing journey as well.

FAQs

How Do I make an Appointment

New patients are welcome to call or text 906.228.2088 to set up their first appointment. Established patients can self-schedule through the patient portal.

Will you accept insurance?

No, I will be considered an “out of network” provider with all insurance companies as well as Medicare. As most of you likely know, insurance has become a major complication in providing primary care. From inflated prices, to insurance denials, to ever increasing paperwork, I believe that better care can be delivered much more conveniently and affordably by separating primary care from traditional insurance.

Are you doing Primary Care or Functional Medicine?

Both. I provide functional medicine, using nutrition and lifestyle changes to help correct the root cause of your symptoms. I apply this to your primary care as well. I also have access to advanced functional lab testing at wholesale pricing to make this available to all.

What are the benefits for members?

The biggest benefit is the ability to have unlimited access to a personal physician to help you achieve your biggest health and wellness goals!

I want to make your health care convenient to access. Extended visits, same day or next day scheduling, telehealth and technology access, wholesale labs (up to 90% cheaper than traditional prices) and transparent pricing are some of the benefits to you.

In addition, I am planning on adding in group wellness classes and coaching for members (in person or online) in the near future.

Will this be a large PRactice?

No, Jill And Robin provider, so KFM will remain a small practice to keep it sustainable. We will be capping the practice patient numbers to maintain our size. The average patient panel for a primary care physician today is around 1500 to 2500 patients.

How do I become a member?

Text or Call Jill directly to get things all set up. You will be billed monthly using a credit card via a secured system onsite.

What does Direct Pay Mean?

We are a direct pay practice, which you can join by becoming a member of the Keweenaw Family Medicine DPC (direct pay primary care).

What this means is that for a monthly membership fee, you will have access to unlimited office visits, telemedicine visits, phone calls, and texts. You can access health care when and where it is most convenient for you. In addition, you will have access to deeply discounted lab work, medications and supplements.

What are your privacy policies?

We care about your privacy.
